Doctor Velvet

The Ams­ter­dam-based band Doc­tor Vel­vet was formed by school­mates Jerome and David. With their debut album New Breed, they were a breath of fresh air in the Dutch roots scene last year — or per­haps more accu­rate­ly, unleashed an unstop­pable tor­na­do.

These guys pre­scribe a potent mix of punk inspired by The Son­ics and rock ​’n’ roll in the spir­it of Lit­tle Richard, drenched in rhythm ​’n’ blues with a dash of booga­loo. Expect swing­ing sax­o­phones, siz­zling per­cus­sion, pound­ing piano, and roar­ing gui­tars. Add to that the bound­less ener­gy of these young musi­cians, and you know you’re in for some­thing unfor­get­table!
