Eddy Smith & The 507
Saturday 2 May
Anyone hearing Eddy Smith & The 507 might be forgiven for thinking they hail from the American South. In fact, they come straight out of central London. The band members met at university, where outside of class they rehearsed in a dusty room marked 507.
Their captivating Americana is built on a solid foundation of soul, blues, and roots rock. Smith is blessed with a gritty, raw-edged voice that grabs you from the first note, perfectly complemented by the sultry sound of his Hammond and the swinging groove of his band. Connoisseurs already mention them in the same breath as JJ Grey & Mofro and the Marcus King Band. That’s no small company, so expectations are high.
